As part of their life skills development, RACE trainees recently completed a Driver Education programme on campus and received their certificates in recognition of their first steps towards a safe driving career.

The course, delivered nationwide by the Irish School of Excellence and supported by Toyota, is designed for secondary school students to provide them with structured training and practical preparation for when they take to the road. Each participant received 15 hours tuition (including some hands-on experience around the RACE campus) plus a CD to help them prepare for the theory test. In addition, they can each avail of one free driving lesson from a local driving school when they proceed to take out a licence and it is hoped that this safety awareness programme will stand them in good stead when they become regular road users.
