Trainees range in age from 17 to 28 and had all expressed an interest in working in the racing industry, but found they lacked the necessary skills to gain employment. The majority of students had previously attended a four-week FÁS Career Planning course at RACE in February which helped to determine their suitability for a career in the racing industry. These candidates will be training full time at RACE until early July at which point they will take up workplace training in the industry as well as continuing relevant classes in Stable & Yard Routine, IT and personal development as steps towards their FETAC qualification.
