A four-week Career Planning for the Equine Industry course was delivered for FAS from Feb 9^th to March 6^th and involved a total of eighteen people ranging in age from 16 to 38.

All participants had expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the horse industry and had very varied levels of practical experience. The month-long programme was designed to test their aptitude and interest while giving them the opportunity to acquire basic skills. Stable & yard work plus basic riding instruction was combined with modules in IT, health related fitness and preparation for work and all received individual career guidance and information on job options within the thoroughbred industry.

As a result of this induction programme, many of the group have confirmed their determination to pursue a career with horses and 15 places have been offered on a 12-week Grooms/Exercise Rider course due to commence at the end of March.
