Ironing out domestic problems
6th Jul 2009
RACE trainees have been getting plenty of help with practical life skills from a newly-structured personal development programme delivered via a series of evening sessions since January.
Guidance counsellor Helen O'Sullivan has organised a series of invited speakers to provide practical advice and support for the trainees in a broad range of areas – money advice & budgeting, positive mental health, driving safety awareness, sports injuries & rehabilitation, sports psychology & developing a winning mentality, the job of the valet and weigh room procedure, goal-setting, cyber bullying and safety on the internet.
A couple of practical workshops covered the basic life skills of learning to cook simple and nutritious meals plus discovering the joys of ironing! The picture below shows guest speaker Claire Broughall instructing the students in the art of producing a well-pressed shirt.
