First winner for Nora Looby
Sligo-born apprentice Nora Looby (grad. 2005) celebrated her first winner on the track when bringing home 16-1 shot Steel Stockholder in fine style to win the final race in the UK Hands and Heels apprentice series at Doncaster on 23rd October. Nora, formerly with Michael Grassick on the Curragh, moved to the north of England 18 months ago to work for Karl Burke but she is now based with Mel Brittain and hopefully this first win will be the catalyst for more race-riding opportunities in the future. Ironically her first success came just days after representing the UK in the international EARS apprentice race in Pisa and it also helped clinch the Hands and Heels series for her former classmate David Kenny by denying points to his closest rival.
